Hello everyone! Welcome to the DMD Blog page. I am your CEO and founder Chavonia and it's a pleasure to meet you. This blog was created so that I can share my thoughts, experiences, and insights on different topics such as fashion, fitness, health, travel and some personal life experiences. While you're here, I hope to be a source of inspiration, and you are able to find something that resonates with you. I will be touching base on new merchandise, product reviews, healthy habits and giving some tips based on knowledge and my personal journey in life. I want you to feel free to browse, enjoy a good read, leave a comment and most importantly, join the conversation. Let's make this a safe space where we can express ourselves without judgment, uplift one another and grow together.

Have you ever wanted to go out, but have trouble finding something to wear because nothing looks right on you, so you give up and stay home?

I don't know about you, but this has been the story of my life for the past couple of years. I love fashion. There is nothing that makes me feel better than to get dressed, look fly, and go out and have a good time. Oh wait, who am I kidding, because eating makes me feel just as good if not better, and this is the problem. It's not that I don't eat healthy, my problem is that I don't stay consistent. My old habits consisted of eating late, laying down while eating, not having a workout routine, and not getting the proper rest. Do you ever think about that body you had before you had children? It's like what happened? Is it just me or do you also feel like after the kids you start to get so caught up in being the best mom possible that you lack self-care. Well, I am here to tell you guys that I have turned over a new leaf. I no longer am going to allow myself to be unhealthy, because the truth of the matter is in order to look your best, you need to feel your best. Below are some tips that I have started to do to help become a better version of myself.

Tip #1: Write down your goals. I find that when I give myself a checklist, it makes it easier for me to complete the goals I set for myself.

Tip #2: Find a diet that works for you. Everyone has different bodies, and different health conditions, thus resulting in your fitness journey to look different than others.

Tip #3: Drink Water. This is a big one for me, because I was addicted to soda, but now I drink my water. I found one that I like (Saratoga still water) it taste good. For those who think water doesn't have a taste, it does. However, my point is to find a brand you like and drink it. It not only keeps you hydrated, but it does wonders for your skin.

Tip #4: Exercise. Find a workout routine that works for you. You don't have to go to the gym to lose weight. You just need to stay active whether that's walking, jogging, riding a bike or exercises at home. Exercising, in addition to a healthy diet, results in losing weight.

Tip #6: Energy Don't Lie; People Do. This is a saying I came up with. It was the first inspiration of clothing for my boutique. ("Energy Don't Lie sweatshirt is available for sale on the website.) A major part of being healthy, is not only what we consume in our bodies as far as food, but the people we allow to give our energy too. Stress and depression lead to conditions like heart diseases, strokes, and other chronic illnesses. So, what are some ways to alleviate those things from our lifestyle? One of the key factors of promoting a healthy way of life is to be positive, be around positive people, consume your time and energy with positive things. One of the things that I do to stay healthy is I meditate. I take time to be one with myself and one with God. I pray every day because without my faith, I wouldn't be who I am and where I am today. I also keep myself busy. Not only am I an entrepreneur, but I am also a single mom of 2 children ages 10 and 12, and they keep me busy. Personal fact about me: I am a domestic violence survivor and when I left that environment to make sure that my children and I were safe, I couldn't work how I was accustomed to. I had to downgrade my lifestyle tremendously and it took a toll on my health and my pockets. I had to find different ways to make money, and I wanted to show my kids what that looked like, and that's how DMD Boutique was born. Sometimes, you are put in a position where you have to create a revenue for yourself. Have you ever been in that position? What did you do?

Tip #7: Knowledge is Power. Reading is fundamental. One thing I want you all to know about me is that I am a geek by heart. I love to learn. One of my favorite sayings is that "The brain controls the body. Without the brain, the body cannot function." In order to keep your brain healthy, you need to exercise it, and you do that by reading and learning. I recently read these two books, "Hustle & Flourish (Unlocking Income Beyond your Day Job) and "The Courier's Guide to Profit" by author Elaine Rogers. The first thing she speaks about is financial depression and how its silent. I resonated with that so much because, is it just me or do you also feel like you just work to pay bills, and then do it all over again the next day and so forth? It can be draining, especially in this economy. When we talk about health, financial health is huge part of a healthy journey. I don't know about you, but when I am broke, I can't focus on anything but how to make some money, because I have kids to feed. Let's be clear, money isn't everything, but we need it to function in our daily lives. We train our minds to think that the only way to make money is to work for someone else, but it's not. The goal is to work smarter not harder. The best way to do that is passive income. Getting to the point where you can make money in your sleep while being your own boss. I really recommend you get those books, because many people gatekeep and are afraid to share information because they are scared that if they share it, you will be their competition. Well Elaine is doing the opposite. She shares a step-by-step guide on how you can make passive income and be that much closer to a healthier financial lifestyle.

In conclusion, financial health is important because it impacts your mental and emotional state of mind causing stress. Stress can lead to poor eating habits and depression which leads to a lack of physical activity. In order to achieve financial health, you need to budget, set goals, and be disciplined. These are all qualities that are needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle. When you are physically healthy, you are more confident, your energy levels are higher, and you feel good about yourself. When you feel good about yourself, you also want to look good. Being fashionable, can improve how you feel about yourself. Wearing clothes that make you look good also helps to boost your confidence. By improving one area of your life in becoming healthy, you're likely to see positive impacts in the other areas of your life. Ultimately, making you a better, healthier version of yourself.

Here are the links to buy the books if you are interested in passive income also known as being financially healthy.

I agree with plenty of these statements and its refreshing to see these steps align with a clothing brand since I feel as if there aren't many who care for the mental work that comes with being active and healthy. You gotta take care of your brain to care about taking care of your body and I stand by that statement. That being said I am definitely an active wear girly and will be getting that bodysuit. 💅🏾

Yesss RiRi, I totally agree. There aren’t many clothing brands that care about the mental work that it takes to be healthy. I can be honest and say that when I started this brand, that wasn’t my focus. However, when I revamped this website, I wanted to implement that part of me that I also revamped. I believe that we change and evolve into different people in different seasons of our lives. In this season of my life, I want to not just look good, but I want to feel good internally. I want to make sure that every part of who I am, aligns with one another. Thank you for stopping by and joining the conversation. Thank you…
